Description and Application

T-9, i.e. n (II) 2-ethyl hexanoate or n (II) octoate or stannous octoate, is the most commonly used gel catalyst in the production of flexible polyurethane foams. Somewhat sensitive to hydrolysis, Yoke T-9 presents excellent solubility in polyether polyols.

It is primarily used as an additive in the polyurethane industry and also finds applications as an efficient catalyst and antioxidant. In the polyurethane industry, it plays a crucial role as an additive, while also serving as an effective catalyst and antioxidant in various applications.

In the event of a leak, the contaminated area should be isolated to restrict access. Immediately cut off the source of ignition. Emergency responders are advised to wear dust masks and general work clothing, avoiding direct contact with the leaked substance. For minor leaks, carefully sweep and collect the material in a sealed container. For major leaks, collect and recover the material or transport it to a waste disposal site. Operations should be conducted in a closed system with local exhaust ventilation to prevent the release of dust into the workshop air. Personnel must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-contained breathing apparatus (half-mask), chemical safety goggles, chemical-resistant permeable work clothing, and rubber gloves. Keep away from ignition sources and heat, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment, avoid dust generation, and prevent contact with oxidizing agents. Equip with appropriate types and quantities of firefighting equipment and emergency response devices. Empty containers may contain residual hazardous materials.

For storage, it is advised to store Stannous Octoate in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse, away from ignition sources and heat, and protected from direct sunlight. Packaging should be sealed and stored separately from oxidizing agents, avoiding mixed storage. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate firefighting equipment to handle potential leaks.

The product is offered in convenient packaging options of 12.5 and 25 kg plastic pails, as well as 250 kg steel drums.

Additionally, it should be kept well away from humidity and potential water contamination. During handling, it is crucial to adhere to good professional hygiene and safety protocols. Usage should be restricted to well-ventilated areas to ensure proper air circulation.

In the event of a spill, promptly absorb the substance using inert materials and transfer it to a designated chemical waste container. It is essential to take preventive measures to avoid spills from reaching water supplies or water courses.
