Tributyl Phosphate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C12H27O4P or (C4H9)3PO4. It is a colorless, almost odorless liquid. The main uses include as a solvent, commonly used as a plasticizer for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber, and polyvinyl chloride, as well as an extraction agent for rare metals and a heat exchange medium. Due to its low surface tension and slightly water-soluble properties, it can be used as an industrial defoaming agent, effectively destabilizing the formed foam film and quickly achieving defoaming. Please note that this compound is not suitable for use in the food and cosmetic sectors.

Application fields of Tributyl Phosphate:

Usage 1: Used as gas chromatography stationary liquid, solvent for nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose, plasticizer, rare earth metal separation agent, and organic synthesis intermediate.
Use 2: It has a good polymerization inhibition effect on acrylates, methacrylates, acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, styrene, and butadiene, and its polymerization inhibition performance is better than phenols.
Use three: an extraction agent for metal complexes, a plasticizer for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber, and polyvinyl chloride, and a solvent for coatings, inks, and adhesives.
Use 4: Used as the main plasticizer of cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber, and polyvinyl chloride. It is also commonly used as a solvent, defoaming agent, antistatic agent for coatings, adhesives, and inks, and as a solvent for rare earth elements. It is an extracting agent. Rat LD50 is 3000mg/kg.
Use 5: Nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate solvents, defoaming agents, heat exchange media, plasticizers, and extraction agents. Gas chromatography stationary solution (maximum operating temperature 120°C, solvent is diethyl ether) extracts cobalt, iridium, manganese, molybdenum, palladium, rhodium, nickel, uranium, and tungsten, and colorimetrically determines molybdenum.
