Bisphenol-A Bis(diphenyl Phosphate) (BDP) is a halogen-free flame retardant belonging to the family of oligomeric phosphate esters, and it is derived from the monomer bisphenol A bis-diphenyl phosphate. This flame retardant is specifically well-suited for engineering resin alloys such as PC/ABS and PPO-PPE/HIPS, commonly utilized in electric and electronic applications.

When adhering to various fire safety codes, the typical usage range of BDP is around 8 to 18 parts per hundred resin (phr). Notably, unlike some brominated flame retardants, BDP does not necessitate the incorporation of a synergist, typically Anmony Oxide. This characteristic is advantageous for the recyclability of the materials.

Furthermore, BDP exhibits low volatility and thermal stability well within the processing conditions of most engineering thermoplastic resins. Its notable flowability facilitates the production of thin-wall moldings, providing flexibility and versatility in manufacturing processes.

Finally, BDP distinguishes itself with enhanced resistance to hydrolysis compared to other flame retardants. This unique property imparts the final product with improved resistance to cracking and "juicing," contributing to the overall durability and reliability of goods treated with BDP.
